Article 1 of the Constitution declares that India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States; the sates and the territories thereof shall be as specified in the First Schedule; and the territory of India shall comprise the territories of the States, the Union territories specified in the First Schedule; and such other territories as may be acquired. / संविधान का अनुच्छेद 1 घोषित करता है कि भारत, यानी भारत, राज्यों का एक संघ होगा; राज्य और उसके क्षेत्र पहली अनुसूची में निर्दिष्ट के अनुसार होंगे; और भारत के क्षेत्र में राज्यों के राज्यक्षेत्र, पहली अनुसूची में निर्दिष्ट केंद्र शासित प्रदेश शामिल होंगे; और ऐसे अन्य क्षेत्र जिन्हें अधिग्रहित किया जा सकता है।
