Cloves are the aromatic dried flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. The clove tree is an evergreen that grows to a height ranging from 8–12 m, having large leaves and sanguine flowers in numerous groups of terminal clusters. The flower buds are at first of a pale color and gradually become green, after which they develop into a bright red, when they are ready for collecting. Cloves are harvested when 1.5–2 cm long, and consist of a long calyx, terminating in four spreading sepals, and four unopened petals which form a small ball in the centre / लौंग परिवार Myrtaceae, Syzygium एरोमैटिकम में एक पेड़ की सुगंधित सूखे फूल की कलियाँ हैं। लौंग का पेड़ एक सदाबहार है जो 8-12 मीटर की ऊंचाई तक बढ़ता है, जिसमें टर्मिनल समूहों के कई समूहों में बड़े पत्ते और संगीन फूल होते हैं। फूलों की कलियाँ पहले हल्के रंग की होती हैं और धीरे-धीरे हरी हो जाती हैं, जिसके बाद वे एक चमकीले लाल रंग में विकसित हो जाती हैं, जब वे इकट्ठा होने के लिए तैयार होती हैं। लौंग की कटाई तब की जाती है जब 1.5-2 सेंटीमीटर लंबा होता है, और इसमें एक लंबा कैलेक्स होता है, जो चार फैलते हुए बाह्यदलों में समाप्त होता है, और चार खुली पंखुड़ियां जो केंद्र में एक छोटी सी गेंद बनाती हैं
