The directive principles of state policy, contained in Articles 36-51 under Part IV of Indian constitution, lays down the contours of welfare state. For example, Article 38 (1) provides that the state shall strive to promote the welfare of the people by securing and protecting a social order based on social, economic and political justice. / भारतीय संविधान के भाग IV के तहत अनुच्छेद 36-51 में निहित राज्य नीति के निर्देशक सिद्धांत कल्याणकारी राज्य की रूपरेखा निर्धारित करते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, अनुच्छेद 38 (1) में प्रावधान है कि राज्य सामाजिक, आर्थिक और राजनीतिक न्याय पर आधारित सामाजिक व्यवस्था को सुरक्षित और संरक्षित करके लोगों के कल्याण को बढ़ावा देने का प्रयास करेगा।
