Explanation / व्याख्यात्मक विवरण :-

The government, in January 2016, announced that Vadodara in Gujarat will be home to the country’s first railway university. The present campus for National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara, (at Pratap Vilas Palace) will be initially used to start the railway university. After land acquisition, a full fledged university will be started there.

The country’s first National Rail and Transport University established in Vadodara, Gujarat has started functioning. India’s first Rail University was started in Vadodara, Gujarat on the day of Teacher’s Day on 05 September 2018.

At present it is functioning from the National Academy of Indian Railways located in Vadodara. Working with foreign partners such as the University of California, Berkeley and Cornell, this railway university has just started two graduate programs. These programs are BSc Transportation Technology and BBA Transportation Management. There are 50 students in each course.

Key Facts:

•   This university has been established as a Deemed University under the Novo Category of UCG (Deemed University Institutions) Regulations, 2016.

•   This university will take Indian Railways on the path of modernization and will help in making India a global leader in the transport sector by increasing productivity and promoting ‘Make in India’.

•   The University will pool skilled manpower resource and leverage state-of-the-art technology to provide better safety, speed and service in Indian Railways.

• The University will support ‘Start Up India’ and ‘Skill India’ by activating technology and providing technology and will provide employment opportunities on a large scale along with promoting entrepreneurship. This will change the railway and transport sector and speed up the movement of people and goods.

Background:

The Union Cabinet on 20 December 2017 approved the establishment of the country’s first Rail University at Vadodara, Gujarat, to promote human resource skills and capacity building. The existing land of the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) in Vadodara has been used for the construction of this university.

सरकार ने जनवरी 2016 में घोषणा की कि गुजरात में वडोदरा देश का पहला रेलवे विश्वविद्यालय होगा। भारतीय रेलवे की राष्ट्रीय अकादमी (एनएआईआर), वडोदरा, (प्रताप विलास पैलेस में) के वर्तमान परिसर का उपयोग शुरू में रेलवे विश्वविद्यालय शुरू करने के लिए किया जाएगा। भूमि अधिग्रहण के बाद वहां एक पूर्ण विश्वविद्यालय शुरू किया जाएगा।

गुजरात के वडोदरा में बने देश के पहले राष्ट्रीय रेल तथा परिवहन विश्वविद्यालय ने काम करना शुरू कर दिया है. 05 सितम्बर 2018 को शिक्षक दिवस के दिन गुजरात के वडोदरा में भारत का पहला रेल विश्वविद्यालय शुरू किया गया.

फिलहाल यह वडोदरा स्थित भारतीय रेल राष्ट्रीय अकादमी से ही काम कर रहा है. कैलिफॉर्निया, बर्कले और कॉर्नेल विश्वविद्यालय जैसे विदेशी पार्टनर्स के साथ काम कर रहे इस रेलवे विश्वविद्यालय ने अभी 2 ग्रैजुएट प्रोग्राम शुरू किए हैं. यह प्रोग्राम बीएससी ट्रांसपोर्टेशन टेक्नोलॉजी और बीबीए ट्रांसपोर्टेशन मैनेजमेंट हैं. हर कोर्स में 50 छात्र हैं.

मुख्य तथ्य:

•   यह विश्‍वविद्यालय यूसीजी की नोवो श्रेणी (मानित विश्‍वविद्यालय संस्‍थान) नियमन, 2016 के अंतर्गत मानित विश्‍वविद्यालय के रूप में स्‍थापित हुआ है.

•   यह विश्‍वविद्यालय भारतीय रेल को आधुनिकीकरण के रास्‍ते पर ले जाएगा और उत्‍पादकता बढ़ाकर तथा ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ को प्रोत्‍साहन देकर परिवहन क्षेत्र में भारत को वैश्विक नेता बनाने में सहायक होगा.

•   विश्‍वविद्यालय कुशल मानव शक्ति संसाधन का पूल बनाएगा और भारतीय रेल में बेहतर सुरक्षा, गति और सेवा प्रदान करने के लिए अत्‍याधुनिक प्रौद्योगिक का लाभ उठायेगा.

•   विश्‍वविद्यालय टेक्‍नोलॉजी को सक्रिय करके तथा टेक्‍नोलॉजी प्रदान करके ‘स्‍टार्ट अप इंडिया’ तथा ‘स्किल इंडिया’ को समर्थन देगा तथा उद्यमियता को बढ़ावा देने के साथ-साथ बड़े स्‍तर पर रोजगार के अवसर प्रदान करेगा. इससे रेलवे तथा परिवहन क्षेत्र में परिवर्तन होगा तथा लोगों और वस्‍तुओं की आवाजाही में तेजी आएगी.

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने मानव संसाधन कौशल और क्षमता निर्माण को बढ़ावा देने के लिए गुजरात के वडोदरा में देश की पहली रेल यूनिवर्सिटी की स्थापना को 20 दिसम्बर 2017 को मंजूरी दी थी. इस विश्वविद्यालय के निर्माण के लिए वडोदरा स्थित भारतीय रेल की राष्ट्रीय अकादमी (एनएआईआर) की मौजूदा जमीन का इस्तेमाल किया गया है.
