Loktak Lake is a lake in the state of Manipur located in the northeastern part of India. It is famous for its floating vegetation and islands made of mud, which are called “Kundi”. The total area of ​​the lake is about 280 sq km. This lake is located in Chudachandpur district of Manipur. It is the largest district of Manipur. The largest floating island on the lake is called “Kaybul Lamjao” and has an area of ​​40 km. It is the last home of the Sangai deer which is an endangered species. This phumdi has been declared a protected area by the Government of India in the name of Keibul Lamjao National Park and it is the only floating national park in the world. Loktak Lake holds great economic and cultural importance for Manipur. Its hydroelectricity is used for power generation, drinking and irrigation. Fish are also caught in this. / लोकताक झील भारत के पूर्वोत्तर भाग में स्थित मणिपुर राज्य की एक झील है। यह अपनी सतह पर तैरते हुए वनस्पति और मिट्टी से बने द्वीपों के लिये प्रसिद्ध है, जिन्हें “कुंदी” कहा जाता है। झील का कुल क्षेत्रफल लगभग २८० वर्ग किमी है। यह झील मणिपुर के चुडाचांदपुर जिले में स्थित है। यह मणिपुर का सबसे बड़ा जिला है। झील पर सबसे बड़ा तैरता द्वीप “केयबुल लामजाओ” कहलाता है और इसका क्षेत्रफल ४० वर्ग किमी है। यह संगइ हिरण का अंतिम घर है जो एक विलुप्तप्राय जाति है। इस फुमदी को केयबुल लामजाओ राष्ट्रीय उद्यान के नाम से भारत सरकार ने एक संरक्षित क्षेत्र घोषित कर दिया है और यह विश्व का एकमात्र तैरता हुआ राष्ट्रीय उद्यान है। लोकताक झील मणिपुर के लिये बहुत आर्थिक व सांस्कृतिक महत्त्व रखती है। इसका जल विद्युत उत्पादन, पीने और सिंचाई के लिये प्रयोग होता है। इसमें मछलियाँ भी पकड़ी जाती हैं।
