The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is one such post/mechanism by which the Parliament exercises control over public expenditure. He audits all receipts and expenditure of the Government of India and the state governments, including those of bodies and authorities substantially financed by the government. His/her duty is to uphold the constitution of India and laws of the Parliament in the field of financial administration. / भारत का नियंत्रक-महालेखापरीक्षक एक ऐसा पद/तंत्र है जिसके द्वारा संसद सार्वजनिक व्यय पर नियंत्रण रखती है। वह भारत सरकार और राज्य सरकारों की सभी प्राप्तियों और व्यय का लेखा-जोखा करता है, जिसमें सरकार द्वारा पर्याप्त रूप से वित्तपोषित निकाय और प्राधिकरण शामिल हैं। उसका कर्तव्य वित्तीय प्रशासन के क्षेत्र में भारत के संविधान और संसद के कानूनों को बनाए रखना है।
