Panchayati Raj is a system of governance in which gram panchayats are the basic units of administration. It has 3 levels: village, block and district. At the village level, it is called a Gram Panchayat. It is a local body working for the good of the village. The number of members usually ranges from 7 to 31; occasionally, groups are larger, but they never have fewer than 7 members. The block-level institution is called the Panchayat Samiti. The district- level institution is called the Zilla Parishad. / पंचायती राज शासन की एक प्रणाली है जिसमें ग्राम पंचायत प्रशासन की बुनियादी इकाइयाँ हैं। इसके 3 स्तर हैं: गांव, ब्लॉक और जिला। ग्राम स्तर पर इसे ग्राम पंचायत कहते हैं। यह एक स्थानीय निकाय है जो गांव की भलाई के लिए काम करता है। सदस्यों की संख्या आमतौर पर 7 से 31 तक होती है; कभी-कभी, समूह बड़े होते हैं, लेकिन उनमें कभी भी 7 से कम सदस्य नहीं होते हैं। ब्लॉक स्तर की संस्था को पंचायत समिति कहा जाता है। जिला स्तरीय संस्था को जिला परिषद कहते हैं।
