This causes distant objects to be blurry while close objects appear normal. This defect can be corrected by wearing a concave (diverging) spectacle lens. The rays of light from a near object are diverged before entering the eye so that the cornea and eye lens can direct the focal point onto the retina/निकट-दृष्टि दोष, जिसे लघु-दृष्टि और मायोपिया के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, आंख की एक ऐसी स्थिति है जहां प्रकाश रेटिना के बजाय सामने केंद्रित होता है। इससे दूर की वस्तुएं धुंधली दिखाई देती हैं जबकि पास की वस्तुएं सामान्य दिखाई देती हैं। इस दोष को अवतल (अपसारी) चश्मा लेंस पहनकर ठीक किया जा सकता है। पास की वस्तु से प्रकाश की किरणें आँख में प्रवेश करने से पहले अपसरित हो जाती हैं ताकि कॉर्निया और आँख का लेंस रेटिना पर फोकल बिंदु को निर्देशित कर सकें
