Explanation / व्याख्या :-

The Indian government banned the import of terminator seeds on fears the seeds would threaten traditional crops and put the well-being of Indian farmers at risk. The technology would have serious implications on the crop biodiversity. It may lead to gradual extinction of traditional varieties. Crop related wild varieties, important for natural evolution for crop species would be affected by cross-contamination. Inserting terminator genes into crops would prevent them from producing fertile seeds. / भारत सरकार ने टर्मिनेटर बीजों के आयात पर इस डर से प्रतिबंध लगा दिया कि बीज पारंपरिक फसलों को खतरा पैदा कर देंगे और भारतीय किसानों की भलाई को खतरे में डाल देंगे। प्रौद्योगिकी का फसल जैव विविधता पर गंभीर प्रभाव पड़ेगा। यह पारंपरिक किस्मों के क्रमिक विलुप्त होने का कारण बन सकता है। फसल से संबंधित जंगली किस्में, फसल प्रजातियों के प्राकृतिक विकास के लिए महत्वपूर्ण, क्रॉस-संदूषण से प्रभावित होंगी। टर्मिनेटर जीन को फसलों में डालने से उन्हें उपजाऊ बीज पैदा करने से रोका जा सकेगा।
