The Portuguese introduced in India a number of new crops like cashewnut, tobacco, tapioca, pineapple, papaya and many others. They also introduced changes in the cultivation of coconut. Indian tobacco cultivation began in the late 17th century.
पुर्तगालियों ने भारत में काजू, तंबाकू, टैपिओका, अनानास, पपीता और कई अन्य नई फसलों की शुरुआत की। उन्होंने नारियल की खेती में भी बदलाव किए। भारतीय तंबाकू की खेती 17वीं सदी के अंत में शुरू हुई।
