देश में जूट के क्षेत्रफल (73.5%) और उत्पादन (82.26%) दोनों के मामले में पश्चिम बंगाल का अग्रणी स्थान है। यहाँ फसल उत्तर के पहाड़ी क्षेत्र और पश्चिम के पठारी क्षेत्र को छोड़कर पूरे राज्य में उगाई जाती है।
