Mica is produced in huge proportion in India. In fact, India is one of the leading suppliers of mica to the world. India alone accounts for a major portion of the world‘s export of block mica and mica splitting. India produces approximate 90 % of the world‘s mica. It is an indispensable component of the electrical industry. India accounts for 60 % of mica embarking in international trade.
Mica producing states in India:
Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan are the major states (most mica producing states) in the production of this mineral. It extends from Gaya district in the west to the district of Hazaribagh and Munger in the east to Bhagalpur district in the east with a length of about 90 miles and a width of 12-16 miles. Its most productive area is confined to Koderma and surrounding areas. The best type of red (ruby) mica is found in Bihar, for which this state is famous all over the world.
Andhra Pradesh, which is one of the most mica producing states in India, is situated in the middle of the confluence and far away of Nellore district of Nellore district. Rajasthan ranks second in the production of Indian mica. The mica belt of Rajasthan extends from Jaipur to Udaipur and pigments are found in it.
Use:
Its thin layers also have the ability to hold electricity (a poor conductor of electricity) and due to which it is used in many electrical devices like condenser, commutator, telephone, dynamo etc.
Due to being transparent and insulating (a bad conductor of heat), it is used in lamp chimneys, stoves, furnaces etc.
Small pieces of it are used in rubber industry, in making paint, for lubrication in machines and for decoration of cards etc.
Its ash is a very popular medicine in Ayurveda medicine, which is used in the diagnosis of diseases like tuberculosis, prameha, stones etc.
भारत में अभ्रक का उत्पादन भारी मात्रा में होता है। वास्तव में, भारत दुनिया को अभ्रक के प्रमुख आपूर्तिकर्ताओं में से एक है। अकेले भारत ब्लॉक अभ्रक और अभ्रक विभाजन के दुनिया के निर्यात का एक बड़ा हिस्सा है। भारत विश्व के लगभग 90% अभ्रक का उत्पादन करता है। यह विद्युत उद्योग का एक अनिवार्य घटक है। भारत में अंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यापार में शामिल होने वाले अभ्रक का 60% हिस्सा है।
भारत में अभ्रक उत्पादन :
इस खनिज के उत्पादन में आन्ध्रप्रदेश और राजस्थान प्रमुख राज्य (सर्वाधिक अभ्रक उत्पादक राज्य) है। बिहार की यह पश्चिम में गया जिले से हजारीबाग तथा मुंगेर होती हुई पूरब में भागलपुर जिले तक लगभग ९० मील की लंबाई और १२-१६ मील की चौड़ाई में फैली हुई है। इसका सर्वाधिक उत्पादक क्षेत्र कोडर्मा तथा आसपास के क्षेत्रों में सीमित है। बिहार में सबसे अच्छे प्रकार का लाल (रूबी) अभ्रक पाया जाता है जिसके लिए यह प्रदेश संपूर्ण संसार में प्रसिद्ध है।
आंध्र प्रदेश जो कि सर्वाधिक अभ्रक उत्पादक राज्य (mica producing states in india) में से है, के नेल्लोर जिले की पेटिका दूर तथा संगम के मध्य स्थित है। भारतीय अभ्रक के उत्पादन में राजस्थान का द्वितीय स्थान है। राजस्थान की अभ्रक पेटिका जयपुर से उदयपुर तक फैली है तथा उसमें पिगमेटाइट मिलते हैं।
उपयोग:
इसकी पतली-पतली परतों में भी विद्युत् रोकने की क्षमता होती है (विद्युत् का कुचालक) और जिसके कारण इसका उपयोग अनेक बिजली के उपकरणों जैसे कंडेंसर, कम्यूटेटर, टेलीफोन, डायनेमो आदि में होता है।
पारदर्शक तथा तापरोधक (ऊष्मा का कुचालक) होने के कारण यह लैंप की चिमनी, स्टोव, भट्ठियों आदि में प्रयुक्त होता है।
इस के छोटे-छोटे टुकड़े रबड़ उद्योग में, रंग बनाने में, मशीनों में चिकनाई देने के लिए तथा मानपत्रों आदि की सजावट के काम आते हैं।
आयुर्वेद चिकित्सा में इसके भस्म काफी प्रचलित औषधि है जो क्षय, प्रमेह, पथरी आदि रोगों के निदान में प्रयुक्त होती है।
