स्टारफिश ट्यूब फीट की मदद से मूवमेंट करती है जो वाटर वैस्कुलर सिस्टम का हिस्सा होते हैं। हरकत में अपने कार्य के अलावा, ट्यूब फीट सहायक गलफड़ों के रूप में कार्य करता है। जल संवहनी प्रणाली ऑक्सीजन को, और कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड को ट्यूब फीट और आंत से पोषक तत्वों को हरकत में शामिल मांसपेशियों तक पहुंचाने का काम करती है।

Starfish carry out movements with the help of tube feet that are part of the water vascular system. Apart from their function in locomotion, the tube feet act as accessory gills. The water vascular system serves to transport oxygen from, and carbon dioxide to, the tube feet and also nutrients from the gut to the muscles involved in locomotion.

Tube feet would be a required locomotory organ for an organism that needs to adhere to surfaces and absorb nutrients to supply to the rest of the body. Other classes of animals do not require tube feet as they are free moving and have other organs specifically for ingesting food.

Tube feet are a characteristic of the Phylum Echinoderm. They are a characteristic organ of the starfishes.
– They are a part of the water vascular system, which is a hydraulic system in echinoderms necessary for locomotion, food ingestion, adhesion, and gas exchange.
