Later on 11 December 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the permanent President and its Vice-President was Harendra Coomar Mookerjee
संविधान सभा की पहली बैठक 9 दिसंबर, 1946 को नई दिल्ली में हुई थी। डॉ. सच्चिदानंद सिन्हा संविधान सभा के पहले अस्थायी अध्यक्ष थे। बाद में 11 दिसंबर 1946 को डॉ. राजेंद्र प्रसाद को स्थायी अध्यक्ष चुना गया और हरेंद्र कुमार मुखर्जी इसके उपाध्यक्ष बने
