The Indian citizenship and nationality law and the Constitution of India provide single citizenship for all of India. However, there is a form of Indian nationality, the holders of which are known as Overseas Citizens of India. Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on January 10, 2003 announced a provision for dual citizenship for People of Indian Origin (PIO) living in certain countries.
