In India, the concept of single citizenship is adopted from the British Constitution. The constitution of India provides for single citizenship for the whole of India. The Citizenship Act, 1955 deals with matters relating to acquisition, determination and termination of Indian citizenship after the commencement of the constitution.

भारत में एकल नागरिकता की अवधारणा ब्रिटिश संविधान से अपनाई गई है। भारत का संविधान पूरे भारत के लिए एकल नागरिकता प्रदान करता है। नागरिकता अधिनियम, 1955 संविधान के लागू होने के बाद भारतीय नागरिकता के अधिग्रहण, निर्धारण और समाप्ति से संबंधित मामलों से संबंधित है।
