Tamil Nadu has the largest number of textile mills (215) and accounts for about 5 per cent of the looms and 25 per cent of the spindles of the country. The state is the largest producer of mill made cotton yarns (44.46%) in the country. Besides it is the third largest producer of mill-made cotton cloths (6.69%) in India.

तमिलनाडु में कपड़ा मिलों की सबसे बड़ी संख्या (215) है और देश के करघे का लगभग 5 प्रतिशत और धुरी का 25 प्रतिशत हिस्सा है। राज्य देश में मिल निर्मित सूती धागे (44.46%) का सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक है। इसके अलावा यह भारत में मिल-निर्मित सूती कपड़े (6.69%) का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक है।
