In communist ideology, private property is viewed as the main enemy and the source of capitalism. According to Marx, in a communist society private property should be abolished. Common ownership of the means of production is an important institutional goal of the communists. The Communist Manifesto states, “The theory of communists can be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property. True human emancipation was impossible with private property. Ultimately the total productive forces of the community would pass into the hands of everybody.”
साम्यवादी विचारधारा में निजी संपत्ति को मुख्य शत्रु और पूंजीवाद के स्रोत के रूप में देखा जाता है। मार्क्स के अनुसार साम्यवादी समाज में निजी सम्पत्ति को समाप्त कर देना चाहिए। उत्पादन के साधनों का सामान्य स्वामित्व कम्युनिस्टों का एक महत्वपूर्ण संस्थागत लक्ष्य है। कम्युनिस्ट घोषणापत्र में कहा गया है, “कम्युनिस्टों के सिद्धांत को एक वाक्य में अभिव्यक्त किया जा सकता है: निजी संपत्ति का उन्मूलन। निजी संपत्ति से सच्ची मानव मुक्ति असंभव थी। अंतत: समुदाय की कुल उत्पादक शक्तियाँ सभी के हाथों में चली जाएँगी। ”
