The government of India launched the Sports Fund for Pension to Meritorious Sportspersons in 1994. Under the scheme, pension is given to sportspeson gold medals in Asian games. While Olympic medalists are given pension @ Rs. 2000/per month, gold medalists of Asian games are given pension @ Rs. 1500/ per month. Pension is given from the age of 30 till life. The scheme is being operated through the Life Insurance Corporation of India./भारत सरकार ने 1994 में मेधावी खिलाड़ियों की पेंशन के लिए खेल कोष की शुरुआत की। योजना के तहत एशियाई खेलों में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले खिलाड़ियों को पेंशन दी जाती है। जबकि ओलंपिक पदक विजेताओं को रु. 2000/प्रतिमाह, एशियाई खेलों के स्वर्ण पदक विजेताओं को रु. 1500 / प्रति माह। पेंशन 30 साल की उम्र से लेकर जीवन तक दी जाती है। यह योजना भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम के माध्यम से संचालित की जा रही है।
