Lead storage battery was invented by French physicist Gaston Plante in 1859. In the discharged state both the positive and negative plates become lead sulphate and the electrolyte loses much of its dissolved sulphuric acid and becomes primarily water / लेड स्टोरेज बैटरी का आविष्कार फ्रांसीसी भौतिक विज्ञानी गैस्टन प्लांट ने 1859 में किया था। डिस्चार्ज अवस्था में सकारात्मक और नकारात्मक दोनों प्लेटें लेड सल्फेट बन जाती हैं और इलेक्ट्रोलाइट अपने घुले हुए सल्फ्यूरिक एसिड को खो देता है और मुख्य रूप से पानी बन जाता है।
