Rajagopuram literally means Royal Tower, an entrance that is fit for royalty but especially for the God in the Temples. Krishnadevaraya is credited with the building of thousand pillared mandapas and the rayagopurams which were spread out throughout the country- side in South India. / राजगोपुरम का शाब्दिक अर्थ है रॉयल टॉवर, एक प्रवेश द्वार जो रॉयल्टी के लिए उपयुक्त है लेकिन विशेष रूप से मंदिरों में भगवान के लिए। कृष्णदेवराय को हजार स्तंभों वाले मंडपों और रायगोपुरमों के निर्माण का श्रेय दिया जाता है, जो दक्षिण भारत में पूरे देश में फैले हुए थे।
