In the classical thought the state was identified with political society and civil society as a form of political community, while the modern thought distinguished the nation state as a political society from civil society as a form of economic society. Compared to society, the role of state is much wider and is increasing with parallel complexities of the modern world. The state today has to carry out several functions which were non-existent a century ago. / शास्त्रीय विचार में राज्य को राजनीतिक समाज और नागरिक समाज के रूप में राजनीतिक समुदाय के रूप में पहचाना जाता था, जबकि आधुनिक विचार ने राष्ट्र राज्य को एक राजनीतिक समाज के रूप में नागरिक समाज से आर्थिक समाज के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित किया। समाज की तुलना में, राज्य की भूमिका बहुत व्यापक है और आधुनिक दुनिया की समानांतर जटिलताओं के साथ बढ़ रही है। राज्य को आज कई ऐसे कार्य करने हैं जो एक सदी पहले अस्तित्व में नहीं थे।
