The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was established on 12 July 1982 by a special act by the parliament and its main focus was to uplift rural India by increasing the credit flow for elevation of agriculture & rural non farm sector. It has been accredited with “matters concerning policy, planning and operations in the field of credit for agriculture and other economic activities in rural areas in India.” / नेशनल बैंक फॉर एग्रीकल्चर एंड रूरल डेवलपमेंट (NABARD) की स्थापना 12 जुलाई 1982 को संसद द्वारा एक विशेष अधिनियम द्वारा की गई थी और इसका मुख्य फोकस कृषि और ग्रामीण गैर-कृषि क्षेत्र के उन्नयन के लिए ऋण प्रवाह को बढ़ाकर ग्रामीण भारत का उत्थान करना था। इसे “भारत में ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में कृषि और अन्य आर्थिक गतिविधियों के लिए ऋण के क्षेत्र में नीति, योजना और संचालन से संबंधित मामलों” से मान्यता प्राप्त है।
