The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act, 2001 provides for the Protection and Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority. The act was enacted to provide for the establishment of an effective system for protection of plant varieties, the rights of farmers and plant breeders, and to encourage the development and cultivation of new varieties of plants. / पौध किस्म और किसान अधिकार संरक्षण अधिनियम, 2001 संरक्षण और पौध किस्मों और किसान अधिकार प्राधिकरण का प्रावधान करता है। यह अधिनियम पौधों की किस्मों के संरक्षण, किसानों और पौधों के प्रजनकों के अधिकारों के लिए एक प्रभावी प्रणाली की स्थापना और पौधों की नई किस्मों के विकास और खेती को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए लागू किया गया था।
